Smart Tourism, Smart Cities & Public Policy
Economist with more than 25 years of professional experience in large companies, in the government and in academia, in the fields of tourism, innovation, internationalisation, industry and regional dynamics, , sustainability, and public policy.
Holds a PhD in Economics and a Master in International Business and Economic Integration (University of Reading – UK), and a Degree in Economics (University of Évora).
It is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the University of Aveiro, teaching in the field of economics since 2003.
Since 2022 works at Galp. Previously, was senior advisor at the Portuguese Minister of Economy for the State Secretary for Tourism and for the State Secretary for Industry.
Was Expert Member at the Strategic Forum for Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) – European Commission – DG-Grow, and Co-president of the Coordination Group of the Action Plan for the Circular Economy in Portugal.
Has published 6 books, over 100 chapters and/or scientific papers in international books/ academic journals, on issues related to the dynamics of firms, industries (manufacturing and tourism) and regions, innovation, internationalisation and sustainability. Has supervised 10 doctorate or post-doctorate projects, and nearly 50 master projects.
